Kyle cooper is credited with being the one man who revitalised the main title sequence as an art.
He believes that if the title sequences fits straight into the film seamlessly and if it sets expectations then it is a good title sequence.
Cooper says the fact that the name of the film in the title sequence for seven looks like handwritten font it suggest it is written by the killer and gives the audience an impression of the killer in the film.
Kyle likes the Deadzone sequence because of its simple typography, the music made an impression on him as it was mysterious. he like the title sequence for To Kill a Mocking Bird as it depicted the main characters obsession with the toys and it used beautiful photographs.
He explains a story based main title as a specific backstory or metaphor/pun for what the film is about.
Cooper also explains that after an audience test screening the audience may not understand everything or the studio may realise they do not have a big enough budget to film more if the audience doesn't understand, this is why the 2 1/2 minutes of the title sequence are important because they can add additional information or footage to help the audience understand the missing parts.
He explains that in dawn of the dead's title sequence they tried to show the carnage and chaos around the world because zombies had been released everywhere, it also had a set up for prequel with the end title sequence as it showed more narrative that was unanswered.
kyle cooper thinks title sequences are important because they help the movie by giving a backstory and placing the audience where they need to be.
