Institutions that produce Teen Drama films.

Genre relies on what is in a media text, but also they way it is constructed. Genres are categorised related to the narrative of a film, for example it could be romance, horror or even action.  Whereas, Teen Drama is a film or drama based on a particular genre; they focus mostly on teenage characters and their behaviour towards life.

Title sequences are used by institutions to establish the company credited with producing and distributing the film along with the name of the film. Using IMDB, I've found out some information about two different Teen Drama title sequences:

Mainstream films are films that are distributed to movie theatres, which give these films wide releases. They are the most widely distributed films in the world. However, the definition of a mainstream film can vary by country, as a mainstream film in one country might not be mainstream for another. For example, a mainstream film from China may not be considered mainstream in India.

Mainstream films tend to have a very high budget, for example the mainstream film '10 things I hate about you' had a budget of $16 million. The film grossed over $8 million in 2,271 theatres in the USA and Canada, and 211 theatres in the UK. It ranked number two at the box office, and is number ten in teen romance, 18th in high-school comedies and ranked 96th in comedies. The film was also rated 7.2 out of 10.

This mainstream film has gone worldwide. In the title sequence of the film there are a lot of credits because of the help of big productions such as Touchstone Pictures. The help of big productions help with the films promotions, props, locations and etc. Due to the budget being high as well, it allows them to hire many professionals. This mainstream film differs from the independent film 'My Brother the Devil' I have also analysed.

An independent film is a professional film production resulting in a feature film that is produced outside of the major film studio system. In addition, it is produced and distributed by independent companies. They are usually made with lower film budgets than mainstream films. Independent films are often screened at local, national or international film festivals before distribution.

The film 'My Brother the Devil' had a budget of £650,000. It was released in the UK and USA and opened in only two theatres. However, the film has won many awards such as Best European Film and Best Cinematography. It had a rating of 6.6 out of 10.

The title sequence of this independent film has few credits and this is because not many people were used because of the low budget. Moreover, due to this film not being part of major film studio it was not promoted very well and only had a few posters whereas a mainstream film goes all out making themselves known. However, despite the low budget the film has still managed to do well.
