There are two
sub-genres of teen drama and they are Youth drama and Highschool Drama.
Youth DramaThis type of drama usually focuses on the life of a teenager and the dilemmas they face in their youth. Their conflict with adults, police, and those in authority is often what is depicted, especially among young males. Teenagers in youth dramas are often portrayed as rebellious and experimental with drugs and sex.
High School DramaThis type of drama often focuses on the life of a teenager in highschool as they slowly transit into adulthood. The protagonist is usually a female and they often portray friend circles within the school that fall into conflict with each other and also fight for the position of homecoming king or queen.
